Armed and cute

Cameron loves his weapons. Lightsabers, blasters, swords, sticks - you name it. You never know when you'll have to fight off some bad guys.

Fishing Beltloop

Matt will see to it that each of our 4 sons will receive their fishing beltloop. Donovan already got his. We took a hike near Palmer Lake and Matt worked with Howie during that trip. I believe he is almost done, but I can rest assured that Matt will take care of this one. Howie seems to take after me in the can't-stand-touching-fish department so Matt has his work cut out for him.

Littleton Historic Museum

We took advantage of the good weather during Spring Break and visited the Littleton Historic Museum. It was close and free - two excellent features. I think the highlights were the teeny tiny lambs, the haystacks and the plows. In one of the farm houses, some women were eating a meal they had prepared in that house: meatloaf, a salad from their garden, corn bread and homemade butter. In the other house, a woman was spinning wool. I love how we can watch people living and doing things the way they would have been done in the 1800s. We all thought it was a fun trip. I left the stroller (and camera) outside both houses, but I'll remember to bring it in next time.

So Ridiculous!

I could hear Nina and Cameron laughing upstairs and it didn't sound like a mess was being made so I didn't go investigate. A little while later I could hear Cameron saying over and over, "I look so ridiculous! This is just ridiculous." Nina was laughing and laughing so I decided to check it out. This is what I found:

I wish I took video of Cameron because every time he said he looked "ridiculous" he would roll his eyes like he was all bothered, but you could tell he loved every second of it. It was adorable and hilarious.

We heart DQ

Grandma and Grandpa Bentley sent the kids giftcards to DQ for Valentine's Day. We took them one Saturday after soccer games and everyone was able to find something to their liking. Thanks for a yummy Valentine's Day treat!

Love to Read

We have a few readers in our house. Although we usually find them reading in their beds at night, we also find them in many other places. When the kids see the library bag filled with new books, they stop what they're doing and dive in to the books. Right now Nina is loving everything, Howie enjoys Robin Hood and the Canterbury Tales, and Donovan is interested in biographies of athletes. Although I don't have any pictures of Cameron, he loves to be read to and enjoys Curious George and Star Wars stories.

CTR-ing

In Primary at church the kids have been learning a lot about choosing the right (CTR). We had a Family Home Evening about choices and consequences and made little CTR pretzels for our treat.

Their Primary leaders asked us to catch them choosing the right at home and we found them doing lots of good things.

On many occasions we catch Donovan helping out with Rex. Whenever he hears Rex crying, Donovan tries to sooth him. That is always helpful!

Howie helps me out in the kitchen very willingly. He helps prepare meals, pack lunches and put together snacks for his siblings. That cute smile is with him every time.

Nina is also a magnet to Rex's crying, but lately she is rocking my world by loading the dishwasher on her own. She's very good at it too!

Cameron rarely needs to be reminded to make his bed. Even though his bunkbed is a little more challenging to make, he still does it on his own right when he wakes up in the morning.

It is wonderful to have such helpful kids who try their best to make good choices.

Nice guess Matt!

My dear husband. One morning Matt woke up unusually tired. Apparently he had been up for several hours the night before doing some research. Research to figure out the answer to a contest put on by the Rapids soccer team president. The contest was: try to guess the new player the Rapids were about to sign. Matt was SO excited. He was certain he won, but it took days for the president to finally announce the winner. The longest days of his life (or so it seemed). Matt did indeed win. Way to go! He won a jersey from this player's former club team as well as an invitation to meet this player and watch a "behind closed doors" scrimmage. All of us got to go. I was a little bummed to find out it wasn't really behind closed doors. There were no doors, or at least they weren't closed because it was WINDY! We only made it to halftime, but it was long enough to meet Mr. Martin Rivero himself and have him sign a jersey for Matt and Donovan.

Oh no Matt! You missed the whole thing!

These three really missed everything. They were trying to make kites out of their blankets. I think I can say they had a great time!
