Babies are cute in overalls
I think a baby in overalls is such a cute thing. I need to remember this when Rex is teething, or whiney or clingy or for whatever other reason has made me frustrated with him. I need to change him into overalls so I can like him a whole lot more.
See, don't you just want to pick up this crying baby and cuddle the heck out of him?

Donovan's field day 2012
Since our little Donny is a big man on campus this year, he got to be an event leader for the K-2 graders. All the stations were part of an Olympic theme. His event was the Fishing For Gold station. He was excited about it so I didn't tell him what I really thought. I kept words like gross, germs and lame all to myself. I wish I could have watched him interact with the younger kiddos, but I bet he was great.
Donovan's turn for fun came the next day. He was happy to let Rex play with him at every station.
We got to watch Donovan do discus, javelin, a relay race, crab soccer and some team building game that I'm pretty sure was not an olympic event.
Howie's field day 2012
How gets really into things like this. He is a competitor I guess. I divided my time watching Howie and Donovan try their hand at several events. Rex was a happier man so I got to watch a little more.
I saw Howie do crab soccer, beach volleyball, the steeple chase, some relay involving rolling tires, soccer and one other one that I neither remember nor photographed. But I'm certain it happened.

Nina's field day 2012
The theme for this year's Fun Day (formerly known as Field Day) was the Olympics. The school's PE teacher set up tons of events all over the playground and the kids rotated stations. I got to see Nina do a few events before Rex melted down and had to be removed from the premises.
We saw her carry the torch and do hurdles, badmitton, long jump and digging for gold medals. I missed that event from London. It's probably because we don't have cable. Nina said she had a great time at every station and I wish I could have seen more!

The bed at the top of the stairs
When Matt and I head up to bed at night, sights like this are always fun to see:
We always wonder how they arrived there, like what was Cameron thinking when he changed out of this pajamas and into his bathing suit and then decided to curl up at the top of the stairs? And why would Nina drag her pillow to that same place only to stick her body in it and then try to get some shut eye? As I was getting this post ready, I could have sworn that we had more pictures of kids asleep here, but I couldn't find any. I must have been thinking about some of the funny things we see when we check on our kids at night. Some have been featured in previous posts, but here are some others:
Don't you think you'd wake up if half of your body was hanging off the bed?
Cuddling up with a giant catfish after you secure your shin guard strap thingies. Check.
At first we thought his head was inside the pillowcase, but no, he just fell asleep with that thing pulled over his ears. I guess sometimes Rex can be a little loud for his taste.

Another contributor to the tooth bank
Nina would like to show you something:
Yep, Rex can now climb onto her bed. But when he tries to get off, he gets stuck halfway and screams like one freaked out little boy who thinks he's going to fall off a bed. Then he falls off the bed and climbs back up. It's one sorry cycle.
But in case you missed what Nina was really trying to show you:
It has finally happened! After school one day (and which day that was I have no clue) Nina was showing me how she could totally twist her tooth around. I hate that kind of thing so I told her how excited I was for her and that she should go show Donovan. As she was twisting it for him her tooth came right out! She was thrilled and ran to the office to get one of those little plastic tooth containers. About 5 seconds after she snapped that container shut, Nina started fighting with some boys. She threw a punch, popped open the container and lost her tooth in the grass, never to be found again. It was awesome to listen to her cry for the next 2 hours, but she eventually calmed down and started to write the tooth fairy a note. She got bored and said, "well, she knows what I mean." Lazy like her mama.
And while we're on the topic of teeth, Rex wanted to show the world that he has some too:
